The wind is backed off and fish are biting again.
Action has picked up every day so far this week. We caught some nice snook including a thirty one inch slot fish by Steve Cureton of St Pete on Tuesday. The water seams warm enough but snook are being picky so far. They eat for a few minutes and then pop our minnows and drop em before we can set up and hook em. We have enjoyed some flurries on almost big enough fish but the big ones were holding back but should get hot any day.
Redfish and trout have helped out when the snook took time off. We had limits of slot redfish three days recently and several nice trout most trips too. The bigger reds have eluded us but we gave em a chance to eat or minnows and moved on to hungrier fish. We had several good trout bites and fish up to twenty four inches this week.
It finally settled down enough to get outside today and we found our limit of school sized, king mackerel. We saw smaller Spanish but did not mess with them. We were looking for cobia and permit but none today. I saw several last week but they turned down our live minnows. It looks like great weather for the weekend and I am looking forward to clearing waters and even better catching next week. I do have a couple of days open before snook closes so call and set up a trip if you can? Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain Van Hubbard.
